IMPROVISATIONS_2000
Color Photography
In the series "Improvisations" I depict personal actions, which I direct and perform in front of the camera in a neutral space. Through a series of improvisations I interact with objects sometimes familiar and sometimes hostile to the body. In objects such as a chair or table, the known body-object relationship is disturbed and the body tries to appropriate the negative space of objects. In cases where the body interacts with objects foreign to it, such as the tubes, the body is pressed to appropriate them and "inhabit" them. The ultimate goal is for the body to assimilate the shape of objects and create a new independent body-object form. The final photos are presented at the end as photographic snapshots of a peculiar choreography.
